South Africa’s latest pay-TV addition, GOtv is a reasonable bouquet option for the family wanting a variety of channels on a budget.

GOtv is like DSTV but just a more affordable version. This is the first local pay-TV option that uses digital television to run.

Digital television is the way of the future so GOtv will give you a look at the future of television viewing in South Africa.

How Does It Work?

All you need to do is purchase the decoder for a R699 once off fee. This decoder is a plug and play model so all you need to do is find a plug, plug it in and it will work.

The GOtv does not impress me at all. The only channel I would watch is TLC Entertainment and I’m not that impressed with that either. Definitely wouldn’t work for me . My main viewing is the Home Channel, BBC lifestyle, ITV Choice, National Geographic & Sky News. History channel used to be my favourite but now days it’s a load of American trash. I am not happy at all with the cost and the repeats of DSTV and would definitely dump it if there was another worthwhile option in this country.

Go for Android boxes, but don’t buy it locally, they steal your money for the very poor specs they sell, buy it from geekbuying or similar online dealer, they have good support and the boxes comes with the latest software, ready updater package so that you can update your box from time to time, I’m using one for over 6 month and I’m extremely happy with it. you need a minimum of 4Mbps internet ADSL line which can cost you about R325 per month. However, 10Mbps would be the best if you want to watch 1080pHD streaming. It’s impressive, you watch the very latest USBox office movies, latest series.
