On the weekend of the 23rd of September, SAPS, JMPD and the Department of Home Affairs will be conducting a nationwide ‘crime’ curbing initiative focusing on roadblocks.

A roadblock was already spotted in Gardens this morning.

This initiative will see the team take to the streets and trace suspects who are wanted for specific crimes as well as outstanding warrants and fines. The initiative has been in motion for some months in targeted areas. But will now see a nation-wide campaign in the fight against crime.

The roadblocks are also designed to check for the general road-worthiness of vehicles and driver fitness. Emphasising road safety and educating drivers to keep safe on the roads.

Please make sure all documentation and licences are valid, available and legal.

Be polite and cooperative regardless of circumstances. This operation carries the authority to arrest, no matter the offence.
