Become A WhatsApp Master With These 6 Tricks

Compare Guru
2016-11-04
We’re almost positive you don’t know about some of these. Read below to impress your friends with your WhatsApp knowledge.
WhatsApp is one of the most used messaging platforms in the world. But, thanks to the updates that keep rolling out, there are new features available which not everyone knows about.

6 WhatsApp Tricks

Here are a few of our favourite WhatsApp features.

1. Share Documents

More than just a place to share images and tell your friends about your day, WhatsApp also lets you send documents of up to 100mb in the app. Sending a document is as easy as sending a picture from your image gallery. Depending on which OS you're using (Android or iOS), you can attach the document by either tapping the + next to the text bar at the bottom of the chat (in iOS), or by tapping the paperclip (in Android). Then select the option to send a document.

2. WhatsApp Web

WhatsApp has a desktop app, and the option to use it in your computer's browser (which is the easier option). Go to web.whatsapp.com from your computer's browser and then open the app on your phone. Go to settings and then look for the WhatsApp Web option. Open it and then scan the QR code, which appears on your browser's screen.

3. Make a Statement

Sometimes text doesn't quite convey the intensity of emotion that some scenarios need. Thankfully, you can now make your words appear in italics, bold or even strikethrough them to make your point. To make your word appear in italics, you need to place a _ before and after the word you want to italicise. Make sure to leave no space between the symbol and the word. To make your word appear in bold, you need to place a * before and after the word you want to bold. Make sure to leave no space between the symbol and the word. To make your word appear as strikethrough, you need to place a ~ before and after the word you want to strikethrough. Make sure to leave no space between the symbol and the word.

4. Group Messages

Group messages are useful, but they can also be the bane of your existence. Put people in a WhatsApp group and they usually feel the need to share the most inane messages with each other, the whole day (and night). Instead of leaving the group (and facing the wrath of everyone else in the group), you can mute the group for 8 hours, 1 week or 1 year.

5. Responding In a Group

You know when you're in a WhatsApp group and you want to respond to one specific person, but you can't because other people have sent messages before you've sent your response? Now, you can reply to a specific message by long-pressing on the message and then hitting reply. It works in regular and group messages.

6. Notice Me

If you're in a group chat and you want to message one particular person, type @in the text field and then the person's name (without a space between the @ and the name). Before you even complete the person's name, it should pop up on your screen and give you the option to tap on it. This tags them in the message and ensures that they see it. mobiledeals_article_banner
