According to an article on TechCrunch, Facebook Messenger has begun testing a new conversation starter with "conversation topics".
How It Works
The app offers suggestions of what to talk about with your Facebook connections based on what they've done recently. This could include anything from which music they've listened to, to places they've visited or events they've recently attended (or plan to attend).
Conversation topics works by displaying your friend's recent activity below their name in the Messenger app.
The feature was originally spotted by Chris Messina on the iOS app and shared to Twitter.
At this stage, it appears that only a small selection of people are seeing the conversation topics section in the Messenger app. It seems this is a very small test that Facebook is conducting.
Conversation topics comes at an interesting time, with Facebook messenger having recently reached 1 Billion users.
The new feature clearly leverages Facebook's information and makes it easier to keep up with what your friends are doing without having to go onto the main Facebook app.
