September 12, has seen the release of not one, but three iPhone devices.
Apple launched the new iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and the much anticipated iPhone X.
There has been much speculation prior to the launch, which took place in the new California Apple headquarters.
According to various sources, information about the iPhone X was leaked online days before the release date. The iPhone X is reported to be the most expensive iPhone to ever be released.
So What Can We Look Forward To?
The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus is a lot like the previous iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. The only difference here is that the it has a faster chip and a longer battery life.
Both these devices include brand new Retina display with a 3D Touch. This will make your screen's visuals incredibly picturesque.
The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus also have a great wide range display that will ensure that your visuals look great from any angle.
The iPhone boasts the world's most popular camera and this time it comes with a 12mp camera. You will be able to adjust the lighting and zoom on your pictures with this state of the art camera.
You will be able to zoom up to 6x on videos on 10x on images. This will capture every detail.
Facial Recognition Is The Finger Print
Like some android devices already on the market, Apple has included a facial recognition function that has replaced the finger print scanner.
According to Pricecheck's Tech Editor, Brendon Petersen, there isn't much hope for the facial recognition.
"There are many examples online of facial recognition being duped by photographs, so unless Apple has a radically improved means of facial scanning and mapping, I do not expect it to be an overwhelming success."
What Is The iPhone X?
This is Apple's exclusive device in aid of their ten year celebration. The iPhone X is a next level device with a hefty price tag to match.
The iPhone X is rumoured to cost a whopping £1 000 in the UK. This is a whole lot more than the iPhone 8 at £599 and the iPhone 8 Plus at £719 respectively.
The iPhone X is an updated design on the original iPhone models with a larger aspect ratio, matching the Samsung Galaxy 8. This means that the home button will be a thing of the past, and this will be replaced with a bar, like the iPhone 8.
This device no longer uses the finger print ID, but rather facial recognition technology.
Some other features are:
- Augmented reality camera that can provide realistic directions when driving;
- The latest iOS 11 operating system;
- Wireless charging.
Is It Worth Investing In?
Petersen believes that the release of three devices at the time, is a clever move by Apple. "Releasing three phones allows Apple to reach a broader market and provide a new phone for everyone who wants one."
People are given the opportunity to choose a device that will suit their requirements and their pocket.
There are already devices that are able to compete with the new iPhone 8 so it is completely up to you as to what would suit your needs.
If it is one of the new Apple devices, you can expect it to arrive on South African soil towards the end of the year. Sales in the US will take place a week after the launch date, so towards the end of September.
