South Korean tech giant, LG has sent out invitations to the international press for an event that will take place on 28 April 2015. The invite, which reads “See the great, Feel the great”, is an indication that the highly anticipated LG G4 smartphone will be unveiled after months of speculation regarding the launch and release of the device. The event will be held in London, New York, Paris, Seoul, Singapore and Instanbul.
After LG announced a global rollout for their four mid-range smartphones, there have been a number of rumours with regard to the specs, features and price of their next generation flagship smartphone. Reported rumours make mention that the G4 will be bigger than the G3 and that it will have size variants including a 5.7, 5.5 and 5.2” version. With 2015 being the year of the smartphone, LG will seek to meet the needs of consumers, as well as feature high on the list of smartphone comparisons for the year.
The G4 is expected to differ from the G3 with its new premium unique features, such as fingerprint scanner, waterproof design, shockproof sensors and dustproof display. As most premium flagship smartphones have integrated added security, the fingerprint scanner will probably be the most popular of the G4’s features. Another report on the device suggested that the G4 would include eye sensing technology, however, this may just be another rumour. The waterproof design not only enhances long term aspects of the smartphone, but it also creates a unique appeal for people who love to take photos. This, together with the camera’s optical image stabilization feature, will deliver great quality underwater photos.
While specs for the LG G4 smartphone have not yet been officially released, speculation on the internet has been further aroused following a leak of the specs by the company GFXBench. The leak offers a glimpse into what the G4 could hold in store for users – it will feature a 5.5-inch Quad HD display with a 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution and will run the Android Lollipop 5.1 operating system. What may be most surprising for users is that the device has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor, instead of the more cutting-edge Snapdragon 810, which LG used for its G Flex 2 device. This is due to reported heating issues with the Snapdragon 810. The 808 processor will be paired with Adreno 418 GPU, running a 64bit architecture and featuring Cat 6 LTE. The smartphone will reportedly have an internal storage of 23 GB, with no information being provided on whether it will support a microSD card.
