What Makes A Car Fuel Heavy?
The rule of thumb is: the heavier the car, the more fuel it will be using. Heavier vehicles have greater inertia and greater rolling resistance, which both contribute to increased fuel consumption. A recent study found that, for every 100 kg reduction, the combined city / highway fuel consumption could decrease by about 0.3 L / 100 km for cars and about 0.4 L / 100 km for light trucks. The size of the engine, and ability to accelerate quickly, also has a huge impact on fuel economy.
